Is Most Published Research Wrong?

look at social studies and tell me you trust them. something is wrong it's obvious.
1:30 This is why you need to include confidence intervals alongside p-values.
would a journal that ONLY publishes replication studies be useful?
ARE. its "are most published research wrong"
If it's been published it has already been peer reviewed, which totally failed to catch the errors. In the media it's "Publish and be damned" but in academia it's "Publish or be damned."
I work in area of applied mathematical physics. I am just wondering how controlling for gender can skew my results.
Peer reviewed publication? All bs, just those PhD candidates and PhD holders just graduated
the need for publishing is one of the problems
You publish once, You can be cited many times.
After COVID, I apply the same standards to science as I apply to Russian diplomats: It's all lies until proven true.
thanks, now i don't know what to do with my life. i'm a senior in highschool wanting to study physics, but i have watched a ton of videos that explain the reaserch paper publication strategies, and the way academia works in general, and now i realise that the perfect knowledge making science world i wanted to be a part of is nothing like i though it was....
how about evolution, as our environment changed from past times, and new factors like modified or engineered foods, new material in day to day use, to packing and using plastics to micro plastic things, and environment is different from past, isnt humans are in the process of evolving, and even if we are fully evolved beings, arent we adapting to our ever changing environments, doesnt being in unfavourable environment that might cause cancer as per research, would fail in future cuz human or any being is trying to adapt to its environment, how can we scale those factors of adaptability against research at some point in time, how can we know if humans are evolving to newer or older species based on its changing facilities and conditions.
can we quantify false true, to negative false against those changing factors where humans are more resistant as now, apart from past studies ? isnt humans are the sole example that we can surpass our limits biologically, scientifically, psychologically, and in every other concept humans made or gave name to in nature
This is Veritasium's greatest video to this day.
the answer to all these research issues is bayesian analysis
These thing have always been in my head. Thanks for saying it out and being articulate on this.
Watched this years ago when I was in school, now I am writing a paper for university on this topic so I've come back to this video haha
Wow, well said!
all this talk about P hacking made me realize. . .i need to go. . .
Cognitive "science" is a field filled with liars and scammers who not only lie openly and proudly but also enjoy bringing the entire scientific community down with them.
The start of this made me think of the start of Ghostbusters.
